CRB Artémis

INRAe's forest biological resource collections are grouped together in a single biological resource centre called Artémis, spread over 3 sites nationwide: Avignon, Orléans and Pierroton.

Created in 2017, the Artémis BRC (initially named the RARe Forest Pillar) draws on the extensive expertise of the various sites and benefits from experience-sharing in order to continually improve its operations.
It listens to the scientific community and responds to their needs while complying with legal and regulatory requirements.
Its main activities are based on conserving and making available biological material and associated data to researchers.
The primary objective is to be able to guarantee the quality of the resources available in order to ensure confidence in the results of research carried out using these forest biological resources. It provides access to forest biological resources of research interest, as well as their associated (meta)data.

The CRB Artémis is part of the RARe (Ressources Agronomiques pour la Recherche) research infrastructure. As such, it works in collaboration with the other pillars making up the infrastructure on cross-cutting themes and takes part in exchanges between the various biological resource centres grouped together in this infrastructure.

A dozen deciduous and coniferous species are listed and available in various formats: nursery trees, seeds, pollen, cuttings, leaves, needles, DNA samples and cell cultures.

The UMR BioForA is responsible for the scientific guidelines and genotypic characterisation of resources for poplar, wild cherry, ash and larch. It also participates in the genotyping (pilot) and quality (co-pilot) processes, and in the validation committee.
